How this estimate works
Salary is annualized, then the 2026 standard deduction is applied: $16,100 for single or married filing separately, $32,200 for married filing jointly, and $24,150 for head of household. Federal income tax uses progressive brackets. Employee Social Security is 6.2% up to $184,500; Medicare is 1.45% on all wages, plus 0.9% above the applicable filing-status threshold.
Annual tax liability estimate, averaged across pay periods. Actual paycheck withholding depends on Form W-4, year-to-date wages and payroll timing. Additional Medicare uses annual liability thresholds ($200,000 single/head of household; $250,000 joint; $125,000 separate); employer withholding begins above $200,000 regardless of filing status.
Federal estimates exclude tax credits. State estimates apply modeled basic deductions and exemptions/credits, with state-specific limitations shown above. Excludes other credits, itemized deductions, retirement contributions, benefits, other income, self-employment tax, AMT, special deductions, and state payroll programs. State estimates may overstate taxes for low-income taxpayers eligible for excluded relief. Not suitable for nonresident alien calculations. Married filing separately assumes the standard deduction is permitted. Amounts use tax brackets rather than IRS tax-table rounding. Calculations run in your browser; salary inputs are not submitted.
